Business Week is reporting that HP has setup a secret skunk works team tasked with developing an OS to replace Windows Vista. According to their sources HP isn't starting from scratch, instead their OS is based on Linux, with a GUI that's more user-friendly than the open source OS. The move is intended to help keep Apple at bay, and would also help differentiate their PCs from their competitors.
HP didn't confirm or deny Business Week's story. HP CTO Phil McKinney openly acknowledged that some discussions may have taken place internally among employees, but said that nothing formal is in place: "Is HP funding a huge R&D team to go off and create an operating system? [That] makes no sense," he says. "For us it's about innovating on top of Vista."
Se pare ca si HP s-a saturat de Vista... sa vedem ce o sa le iasa...
